LET'S BRING THIS PUPPY HOME
2 WEEKS TO GO - TO MAKE THEM LISTEN
The GOOD NEWS is that in 2 weeks we won't be sending you any more emails about collecting signatures for the petition on the anti-smacking legislation. Yay!!!!
The NOT SO GOOD NEWS is that the deadline to collect the remaining number of signatures to absolutely ensure that the Referendum happens is in 2 weeks .
Our target is 370,000 signatures to ensure that there are more than enough signatures to survive however tough the 'audit process' is. ( just over 12,000 to collect )
And remember - 390,000 would match the number in the film Amazing Grace where William Wilberforce rolled out the petition in the House of Commons and shouted, “No matter how loud you shout you will not drown out the voice of the people!”
Could I encourage you to simply
1. print out the petition form CLICK HERE
2. carry with you over the weekend and next week
3. and simply check with people you socialise with whether they would like to sign the petition. You'll be surprised how many people have wanted to but simply didn't have the opportunity!
Thanks for your efforts - and have a great 'long weekend'!

"I don't have children"
So why Helen do you think you know best when it comes to parenting and smacking??
Should it be compulsory to vote?
In Australia this is the case and the Australian Electoral commission gives these reasons for why it is good.
- Voting is a civic duty comparable to other duties citizens perform eg taxation, compulsory education, jury duty
- Teaches the benefits of political participation
- Parliament reflects more accurately the "will of the electorate"
- Governments must consider the total electorate in policy formulation and management
- Candidates can concentrate their campaigning energies on issues rather than encouraging voters to attend the poll
- The voter isn’t actually compelled to vote for anyone because voting is by secret ballot.
- It is undemocratic to force people to vote - an infringement of liberty
- The ill informed and those with little interest in politics are forced to the polls
- It may increase the number of informal votes
- It increases the number of safe, single-member electorates - political parties then concentrate on the more marginal electorates

Labour's budget is too little too late
On Tax and the economy
"Has Labour delivered tax cuts in order to help families or help themselves?"
"Why after 9 year do they give us tax cuts when they are facing an election defeat?"
"Why didn't they give us tax cuts three years ago when the economy was in a good position?"
"Why are we not in the top half of the OECD?"
"Why do we get so little when it is our money in the first place?"
"Aren't these tax cuts just inflation adjustments to where we should be to reduce fiscal drag?"
"Why is the govt more concerned about there short term political fortunes than the country's long term direction?"
On Health
"Why after doubling the amount spent on health have the waiting list not got shorter?"
On Education
"Does the GOVT think that their small increase in education spending is going to actually give more real money to schools? Isn't this just an inflation adjustment?"
"Why does the GOVT have no long term plan for the young people of this country?"
The list goes on, but one question remains, "How long till we can get rid of them?"
And that question has almost been answered. It is the 18th of October.

ACT's Pledge Card
I recieved the following email from the ACT Party...
The ACT Party promises that if you give us your party vote and we hold the balance of power after the election, we'll create an economy that gives the average New Zealand wage earner an EXTRA $500 A WEEK - enough to outperform Australia and bring our children home.
How's that for a bribe? Don't believe we can deliver? Then click here and see a pledge card with a difference. A detailed plan to do just that.
Nearly all of the policies we propose are regarded as international best practice. Others will be after we've pioneered them!
Not hard right. Dead right.
These policies will give us the growth we need, so we can afford things like lifesaving breast cancer drugs that countries like Greece can now afford, but we can't.After fifteen years of gutless governments:
- The average New Zealand worker is now $450 a week poorer than the average Australian worker.
- If we were a state of Australia, we'd be the poorest - $100 a week poorer than Tasmania.
- If we were a state of the USA, we'd be 51st and last - $120 a week poorer than Mississippi.
One thing's for sure. Unless you stop voting for politicians who bribe you with short-term treats at the expense of policies that enrich you in the long run, you'll keep getting poorer and poorer.
John Key is not the key.
Roger Douglas is.
He's copying Australian PM Kevin Rudd's strategy of saying 'me too' to the present government's policies. But can you spot the difference?
That's right. Rudd said 'me too' to policies that have made Australia richer. Key's saying 'me too' to policies that are making New Zealand poorer!
There's only one way to save New Zealand. Only one way to bring our children home.
And that's to make sure the ACT Party gets enough votes to hold the balance of power and demand that Sir Roger Douglas gets back his old job of Minister of Finance.
Who would you trust to manage New Zealand's $175 billion economy in a crisis?
- Michael Cullen – who's squandered the best global conditions of a generation to make us poorer than Greece?
- Bill English – who did nothing much the last time he was Minister of Finance, and is proudly promising to do nothing much again?
- Sir Roger Douglas – the finance minister who transformed New Zealand from a Soviet-style basket case under National to one of the freest and most admired economies in the world?
In 1984, Sir Roger Douglas had the guts to do what was right for this country when it needed strong leadership.
Well, we need that leadership again. Click here to keep reading to find out how you can make it happen with a party vote for ACT.
Don't be too sure that this election, Kiwi voters will not make good use of the MMP voting system. I think we could see some of the minor parties (other than NZ First, United Future and some others not even worth mentioning), taking a larger role than expected.

Myanmar tragedy and 'global warming'
Joseph Farah at World Net Daily has this amusing/eye-opening article on the cyclone in Myanmar.

Click here to read the rest of the article.Al Gore has made the pronouncement: Tens of thousands were killed by a cyclone in Myanmar because of "global warming."
During an interview with National Public Radio's Terry Gross about his new paperback, the appropriately titled "The Assault on Reason," Gore said: "And as we're talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated. And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we're seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming."
In fact, later counts suggest the death toll in Myanmar may reach 100,000.
But those tragic deaths will not be a result of global warming. They will be the result of several other factors under denial by the climate-change zealots:
- A very bad storm struck the country, hitting hardest, as cyclones are wont to do, along the coastland where most of Myanmar's 55 million people live. This storm was not the first to hit Asia, nor will it be the last. But, to keep things in perspective, one hit Bangladesh in 1970 that killed more than 500,000 people. That, by the way, came at a time when today's global warming Chicken Littles were warning of an impending Ice Age.
- Myanmar is a totalitarian socialist police state that has no concerns for the safety and welfare of its people. No warnings about the storm were issued by government. Nor could government have warned the people even if it had the inclination to do so because of the extreme poverty of the oppressed population, which is without newspapers, without radio, without telephones, without television and whose Internet access is strictly controlled. The government of Myanmar is so callous in its lack of concern for its people it has been reluctant to permit gifts of disaster relief from the free world. Reports from the area indicate the police state is hording some of the high-quality donations that have been received and has distributed lower-quality food to cyclone victims.
- People in Myanmar have no freedom, no property rights. Therefore, people live wherever they can eke out survival. That generally means the rice-growing region struck so hard by this cyclone.
There is one thing that had nothing to do with this storm or this death toll – and that is an overabundance of manmade carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. And that is what Al Gore cites as the cause.
Had this cyclone hit a well-developed, prosperous, free country, there would have been some trauma, some damage, maybe even a few deaths. But there would be nothing like the carnage we are hearing about in Myanmar.

Michael Zoolander

Michael Cullen: "What is this? A train for ants? How can people be expected to get in this train... if they can't even fit inside it?"
Disdainful Smiling Guy: "Michael, this is just a small..."
Michael Cullen: "I don't wanna hear your excuses! The train has to be at least... three times bigger than this!"

Which party will show some initative on this issue?
Labour is given a thrashing in the UK
The UK Labour party was given a thrashing in the local body elections with them loosing 331 seats so far.
This now puts huge pressure on Gordon Brown to resign or be rolled by someone else because of his poor leadership. Fears of a revolt in the party are now more likely.
Well done to the conservatives who are now well placed to win the general election in a maximum of 2 years.
The results for the London Mayoralty are still coming through.

Bob Clarkson to be "front row" at march tomorrow.
Not only this but Bob Clarkson will be "front row" at the march. The Tauranga Mp who took the seat of Winston Peters in 2005 has labeled the Electoral Finance Act as "totalitarianism". Bob also says "You should have the right to do what you like for goodness sake - that is your right, but you just can't do it.
"It is really, really dangerous stuff. We are all sitting on our hands at the moment, we're too scared to do anything ... and you can't understand the rules.
"We are really limited. The mayor or councillors can spend $50,000 on getting elected and MP's can only spend $20,000, including GST."
Speaking at the march will be John Boscawen from the Free Speech trust and Garth McVickar from the Sensible Sentencing Trust. Also others will have the opportunity to speak.Garth will be speaking about how the act heavily restricts his organisation and its many thousands of members.
If you live in Tauranga and am sick of this act please attend this march. Details HERE

Timaru Herald Editorial Mouthpiece for Anti-Freedom Government
The Timaru Herald published an editorial today slamming the petition calling for a referendum on the "anti-smacking" law as a "a sideshow". The editorial then goes on to say that Sue Bradford's comment telling opponents of the law to "move on" is actually popular opinion.
But this article is wrong in the assumptions that it is making. Firstly it says that "National's last-minute intervention that the police would not pursue inconsequential smacking took away much of the objection and the bill was easily passed." No this took away NO objection to this legislation, if you look at recent polling then you will see that public opinion is very much the same.
In fact, just over a week ago, a small group of volunteers collected 5,800 signatures at the V8 Racing event in Hamilton. Ahem, sorry, what did you say? public opinion has changed? Don't make me laugh. [A]
Next it says "But while the petition attracted 324,511 signatures, only 267,000 have been deemed valid, well short of the 285,000 to force the poll". 267,000 is not far off 285,000 and is one of the largest petitions handed in in recent history.
"one of the largest petitions handed in in recent history." - how much is this editor being paid? He's just filling up paper with worthless points. It is a normal number of signatures to be submitted, and the audit is not bad news at all! Norm Wither's "law and order" petition lost 60,000 signatures in it's audit. [A]
Thirdly it says "But consider what has happened since the bill was passed. The worst fears have not been realised. We have not seen a procession of parents through the courts charged with assault in the name of child discipline -- there have been just five cases. Nor have we seen the law preventing the most extreme cases, with children still dying or being badly injured at the hands of their parents." That is five cases which did not need to happen. Five families have had unneeded police interference.
Of course "the worst fears have not been realised". I have been saying this from the beginning. The Labour/Greens government knows it would be suicide to allow the police force to administer this draconian law to it's fullest extent. No indeed, they will wait until (they hope) they get elected into Government again next year, and then will begin the regime of Government initiated home-invasion on thousands of good, caring family-homes. [A]
Fourthly it says "So what has happened? Until the research is done it is only guesswork to assume the legislation is producing behavioural change. Anecdotally, there appears to be greater awareness by parents of alternatives to physical discipline, which is a good thing." We will reap what we sow.
Perhaps it is a good thing, but it doesn't even begin to justify the introduction of such a anti-freedom law, against the will of the majority of the population (83%). [A]
Lastly it says "Politicians will welcome the prospect of no anti-smacking referendum at this year's election. It would be a sideshow to the far more serious main event, and yet could also be a rogue element in terms of colouring voters' intentions. It is time to move." Yes that is true, Helen Clark and Sue Bradford will welcome no referendum at this election because if we have one everyone will be reminded at the ballot box about what Labour and the Greens have done. But no it is not time to move on because politicians are our servants not our masters.
Why are you lot so paranoid, so beside yourselves with concern at the prospect of a referendum being held? [A]
I Accuse, I Accuse, I Accuse
This surge of disgust came as I was walking down the road. My neighbours passed in their cars, they are nice enough people, but were fortunate to recieve a windfall due to the Government. I got quite angry as they were driving past in their late-model cars, not worrying about fuel consumption. (Who does when they are millionaires?) While in our complete contrast in my household where it is a daily struggle to pay the bills and feed the family. I realised that this was solely due to the Labour Government mismagament of everything in our country. Indeed it is a testament to our people that we still carry on with a smile on our faces and a growl in our hungry stomaches.
EDUCATION: It is fitting I start with the education sector as I am still in it…
The problem with the Education sector is that they are increasingly beeing relied on to fix parent’s stuff ups. This is because they are working more and more hours or were simply not given positive role models. This is a problem because Schools are focussing less on their purpose of teaching. This is flowing through to higher levels with higher achievers left bored or deliberately making trouble. This ensposuses a culture of mediocrity, which is currently reducing the society, the good honest people genuinely interested in helping each other.
This then undermines the quality of people flowing through to the workforce.
However, what ever happened to the ‘free eduaction’ promised to us. My parents pay $60 a month just for mine and my sister’s school fees. So the government is underfunding my education by $360 per year. When applied to the whole school population this puts an incredible strain on families.
HEALTH:
Despite Labour’s millions in this area they haven’t solved our health problem. Infact they have increased it. We have hundreds of thousands of patients being refused basic hospital services, and only being done when they are seriously in severe need of it. It would be easier if they just solved it in the first instance.
Where has all the money gone? Breaucracy. There are 5 administrators to every hospital bed in New Zealand. This has come about because of the introduction of many DHBs. They are a good idea, but have gone too far. There are 4 District Health Boards in Auckland, with similar population in the rest of the country. There is many duplication of resources here, wouldn’t it make more sense and save more money, if we had a more efficent service?
CRIME:
One thousand more police. Where? Chasing far the most part law abiding citizens who are only guilty of travelling at 10kmh above the spped limit. Ridiculous when crime reporting is going down due to a willingness by the police to chase speedsters, while Methampetamine crime is burgeoning.
Most people when burgalled first ring their insurance agent, because they know the police will not do anything if told. In the past twenty years, we have become exposed to a torrent of vicious murders, devious frauds and dangerous gang influence. The problem with more gang influence is the immense social problems they then cause with huge availability of drugs, the break down of families and society. And the Serious Fraud Office was closed down by the Labour Government. Good timing there in a time of many serious internet fraud crime and OC using the internet to facilitate international syndicates.
And the cause for all this? A destruction of the core family unit. This seems to be one of Labour's key policy areas. Look at the Anti-Smacking Act, Civil Unions, Prostitution Reform, Erosion of Morals (Sex-Ed), Care of Children Act (which strips parents of the right to parent).
THE ECONOMY:The Labour Government have failed to provide investment in the productive sectors of the economy. They have risen up an economic wave they did not create and frittered the money away.
We are now facing astronomical prices for goods and services. A kilo block of cheese can exceed $17. A litre of petrol will soon break the $2 mark. Power bills are going up and up, while wages stay low. House prices are high, while interest rates keep creeping up.
The Labour Governemnt has failed New Zealand, by not spending where it was required in the Transport sector, not relieving exceesive taxes on petrol, a second-world communications system and a electricity sector that will fail to keep up with demand. We will experience blackouts this year due to the reduction of the Cook Strait cable capacity and back up generators going in months in advance of normal winter demand. We put up with slow internet connections due to the Government’s failure to intervene earlier and buy the lines off Telecom. Morgages have gone up with interest rates and many people are stretching themselves to the limit.
Added to that we have a high New Zealand dollar that eats up our export dollars, while people gorged on debt, on the back of cheap imports. Now the crows are coming home to roost. The Meat industry is severely effected by this and may disappear into Dairying, a ecological time bomb when implemented in areas that cannot support it such as Canterbury.
And not giving tax cuts while sitting on a surplus, well its gone down, down the drain. A shame for all New Zealanders, when we had a real chance to shine as a country on the World Stage.
GLOBAL WARMING:
I’m not going to blame Labour for Global Warming but they haven’t done one positive thing. Thay are simply justing creating more emissions to justify breaucrats existance. The BMW cars, their failure to set a firm target for emissions. Also DOC’s buying up of good high country and failing to save our native species.
THE LABOUR PARTY, has constantly expanded the breaucracy and maniuplated its way into power. Look at the pledge cards which were allowed after their law change. look at the Electoral Finance Act which restricts the right of ordinary people to say what they think about the political process.
I accuse the Labour Party because they have failed our future in education. I accuse them of abusing our current wealth with trashing the economy. I accuse them also because we are also not safe due to the increase in Crime and wont be comfortable in old age due to lack of health.
I accuse, I accuse, I accuse.
